1.0406 Steel

1.0406 is a carbon steel standard, also known as C22.8. This steel is mainly composed of carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, and phosphorus. The specific chemical composition is as follows:

- Carbon (C): 0.17 percent - 0.24 percent

- Manganese (Mn): 0.30 percent - 0.90 percent

- Silicon (Si): 0.10 percent - 0.35 percent

- Sulfur (S): up to 0.040 percent

- Phosphorus (P): up to 0.035 percent

The tensile strength of this steel is 410 - 540 MPa, the yield strength is 235 MPa, and the elongation at break is 21 percent . It is usually used for the manufacturing of low-pressure pipelines and containers.

This steel can be used in various states such as hot rolling, cold rolling, hot treatment, and cold treatment. Among them, the steel in hot-rolled state has the highest strength and toughness.

This steel has different grades in different countries. For example, the grade in the United States is ASTM A105, in Europe, it is EN 10028-2 P265GH, and in Japan, it is JIS G3141 SPCC-SD.
